Two types of corrosion testing have
been used to verify the corrosion protection provided by this protector system:
Salt Spray Test (ASTM B117)
The
test fixture was composed of a properly torqued nut and bolt on a flange with
the protector installed. It was subject to a 5% salt solution in a salt fog
cabinet according to ASTM B117 procedures. After 90 days, the carbon steel nut
and bolt were both free of corrosion
Sour Gas Test (NACE TM 0177-96)
This
test showed what protection was given by this protector on
a B7 stud in H2S corrosion environment.
The environment for the exposure was a moist (100% relative
humidity), in an atmosphere containing H2S.
After 90 days, the carbon steel nut and bolt were both free
of corrosion.

2. The appearance of fasteners after a 90-day exposure in
the ASTM B-117 salt spray test. The fastener protected with
the NUT-SEAL system is the only one free of corrosion.
